635 VGS Website
Welcome to the 635 VGS website. The unit is based in Lancashire, in the north west of England, and provides elemenatary gliding training for Air Cadet Organisation (ACO) squadrons and Combined Cadet Force (CCF) units within the regional area.
635 Gliding School is made up of RAF (Volunteer Reserve) officers, civilian instructors (CI's) & flight staff cadets (FSC's). Each individual, as well as flying duties, have secondary duties essential to the overall running of the school.
The officer currently commanding 635 is Squadron Leader Will Taylor & the school's chief flying instructor (CFI) is Flight Lieutenant Anton Murfin, responsible for all flying matters.
635 VGS over recent years has been the winner of many prestigious and respectible trophies including, best motorised school and Central Flying School top squadron. These awards have been achieved by the sheer commitment, determination and hard work of each and every member of 635 VGS, devoting much personal time of their own, to the overall success of the gliding school.
635 VGS is known to be, and will continue to be known to be, one of the premier flying training units in the United Kingdom.
